Edgar Beltrán works with affiliates and partners across the country to develop and advance campaigns that build the systems and structures we need to live full and healthy lives.
He is the son of Salvadoran refugees and was born and raised in Los Angeles. The biggest influence in his life is his mother, a long-time union member and leader, who modeled the importance of civic engagement and collectively fighting for social and economic justice.
Before joining PowerSwitch Action, Edgar was the Policy and Campaign Development Manager at California Calls where he helped anchor offensive and defensive policy fights focused on revenue generation and criminal justice. Prior to that, he was a Strategic Researcher for SEIU 32BJ where he assisted union organizing campaigns in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, and Washington DC.
At PowerSwitch Action, Edgar helps organizations create and expand multi-racial feminist democracies through public budgets and finance. He focuses particularly on direct campaign support, capacity-building and leadership development.
Edgar holds a Master's degree in Urban Planning from UCLA and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Latin American and Latino Studies from UC Santa Cruz. Edgar loves to play basketball, travel, and spend time with friends and family, especially his awe-inspiring partner Ashley.
